Early Rise

by | Feb 23, 2025 | Poetry | 0 comments

The sun has yet to rise,
But I’m awake.
I lay in my darkened room,
Recalling the vanishing dreams of the night.

I will get up soon and start my day,
But first,
I drink in the shadowed peace of the morning,
The quiet, the calm, the still.

The sun rises fast.
A new day begins.

I awaken once more,
My morning reverie already a distant memory.
Beyond thought.
And still a peaceful refuge for my spirit.
